Ian Walker EAGMA

It is with great pleasure that I can recall starting to paint when I was about ten years of age. I was encouraged by my late uncle, James Jerram, himself a gifted marine artist, particularly of Thames views and he was also one of the early members of EAGMA.

When studying in London after sixth form I lodged with him and we spent many happy hours painting the London waterways and churches at the weekends.

Over the last forty years until my retirement I have had a very busy working life in the NHS and found painting an excellent safety valve from the pressures and stresses of the clinical environment. To paint and spend time with others who share the love of sea, harbours and waterways of our island nation is a wonderful experience.

My principal medium is watercolour, though I also paint in oil and pastel and occasionally gouache.
